It's been a while since I've blogged. Since January My mother has been sick. First pnuemonia and then plurisy set her back. Ever since my Father's death she has not been right but time has taken it's toll. The other day she didnot respond to my daily morning phonecall so I sped over to her house to find her on the floor and mentally disoriented. Now you have to imagine a woman who in her life has been a very tough and strong willed person is now in this pitiful state. I picked her up and put her back in the bed, got her Oxygen and began an assessment thinking she had had a Stroke. Her state remained altered well into the morning. I finally talked her into going to the hospital. Once there and after some testing her diagnosis was Anemia and Low Sodium count which was causing her to be so disoriented and twitching. Her blood pressure was also all over the map. The doctor finally decided to put her in Intensive Care so they could keep a close eye on her. I received a call later that night from her nurse stating her condition was worsening and she would have to be put on a ventilator or breathing machine. After 2 days she was starting to improve and was taken off the breathing machine and finally moved to a regular room where she is still trying to get better. After 5 months of illness she will have to undergo extensive physical therapy. We'll see kepp you posted.
